Brad
Taking cap and gown photos is always an exciting experience, especially when it's for someone who has worked hard to achieve their academic goals. Brad, a Ph.D. student at Florida State University, is a prime example of such a hard worker. Brad selected the Golden Grad Package meaning he had up to 1 hour of total shooting time, two campus locations, and 10 final images. After being in school for quite some time to reach this academic level, there were many locations to create these memorable images. But, in classic FSU fashion, we went to the most iconic spots on campus: Westcott Fountain and Heritage Tower! The images came out beautifully!
Brad reached out to me a days prior to graduation day hoping he could get a spot in before the ceremony. We discussed options and decided the best course of action was to schedule his grad shoot for the week after the ceremony. This was the best choice we could have made and I will certainly be suggesting this to future clients! Why schedule your cap and gown photos for after the ceremony? One simple reason:
We didn’t have to deal with massive crowds and lines for top locations!
One of the biggest pains when shooting grad images at FSU is dealing with the massive crowds of people, especially near the Westcott Fountain. The line for the a spot in front of the fountain can last upwards of an hour! That’s why it is so important to get your cap and gown pictures scheduled and done ahead of time by either a month or waiting to shoot after the ceremony. The choice is up to the client, but I’m so happy Brad and I were able to shoot the weekend after the spring graduation ceremony.
Seeing Brad in his regalia made me realize that he is actually the first Ph.D. student I’ve had the pleasure of taking grad photos for in Tallahassee. Hopefully, he will be the first of many! It was a pleasure capturing these memories for Brad and I can’t wait to work with other FSU doctorate students on their graduation photography in the future!
If you or a family member will be graduating in Tallahassee from FSU, don’t hesitate to contact me and schedule your shoot today!
